Social Media Portfolio
This portfolio showcases some of my social media successes from 2017-present, working with grassroots groups such as Indivisible Illinois, Indivisible IL9, and Indivisible Downtown Chicago, as well as campaign and government work for progressive Chicago Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth and the 48th Ward Dems.Besides my real-world experience working with non-profit organizations, political campaigns, and elected officials for the past 8 years, I also have a master's degree in Technical and Professional Communication, if you're looking for that official cred.Social media campaigns are most successful when we combine planning (we love an Editorial Calendar and a social media scheduler) with responsiveness (gotta meet that moment!) It's a careful balance that (add something)
OMG a Hit Tweet!
Back in 2019, newly formed Indivisible IL9 social media team was doing our best to get as much engagement as possible and this was our first hit Tweet!Big numbers for a small group due to: great photo, engaging copy, judicious use of emojis, and perfect timing (one of the first organizations to use the hashtag that day, ahead of a big rally).
#VirusFreeVotingIllinois Campaign
When the pandemic hit in 2020, we were all looking for creative ways to make sure that every vote was counted. As a volunteer with Indivisible Illinois, we created a #VirusFreeVotingIllinois campaign on Twitter and Instagram for folks to share their experiences getting out their vote. For a rather niche topic, the campaign got quite a bit of traction. During our many "Twitterstorms," the hashtag was the #1 trending hashtag in Illinois, with over a million views each week.

48th Ward Dems
The 48th Ward Dems are a new group forming in Chicago. While they are in the process of setting up a formal Board, I have been volunteering on their social media accounts to promote meetings and events, including the last month's meeting with IL Lt. Governor, and IL Senate candidate, Juliana Stratton.Through a combination of social media and direct email campaigns, we have increased meeting attendance 50% from the previous month.
Campaign: What does Leni think about...
When Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth was running for the Chicago City Council in 2023, we created this campaign to let people know more about her with engaging scheduled posts. "What does Leni think about..."I was the scheduling manager and creative director on these posts, and a campaign volunteer created the content. And Leni won the election! (Not saying it was because of social media, but it didn't hurt...)

From Campaign to Government Office...
When Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth took office in 2023, we wanted the campaign branding to continue with her government office.I created a branding strategy to tie in the government socials with the campaign and onboarded the incoming Communications Manager. I continue to mentor and consult with them today. The Instagram account now has over 2k followers. Nearby City Council members who have been in office for 4+ additional years have roughly 4k followers, so the office is on track for followers. And the branding remains the same, over two years later.

Branding: Indivisible IL9
I have created graphics for many different campaigns and events. Here are just a few highlights from my time volunteering with Indivisible Illinois 9th (aka Indivisible IL9), a Chicago group in the 9th Congressional District.I designed this logo based on the Indivisible color scheme, typeface, and elements while making it our own with the stylized "IL9" featuring the person from the Indivisible logo as the "i".We used these graphics for everything from social media to print materials.
Indivisible Downtown Chicago Instagram
While our group has been around since 2017, we joined Instagram in March 2025 and have grown the audience to over 2k followers in 4 months. As a small volunteer team, we largely collaborate with other groups for content, focusing more on getting the word out than developing a cohesive brand, but it's working!
#ChickenTrott Campaign
This one goes way back to 2017, but core principles remain the same: make a plan, engage with (words), and (big finish). We created the hashtag #ChickenTrott to call out the fact that our congressman was never available; this was accompanied by a #WheresDaveTrott hashtag and (now defunct) website. We also made "Missing Person" stickers featuring Rep Trott that we applied to the sides of milk cartons. We made the news with this campaign and Rachel Maddow mentioned us too! Most importantly, our direct action forced him to resign and progressive Democrat Haley Stevens was elected congresswoman of MI-11; she is currently running for Senate.
About Me
I'm a creative problem solver, a collaborative team player, and (more words) with experience writing, (communications). I proudly embrace the label "Swiss Army Knife"— yes, I can also do that! Here's a bit about my social media experience, summed up in a few bullet points:
Social Media scheduling and analytics: Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, Sendible, Sprout Social
Proficient in Google Workspace: Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.
Project Management/Editorial Calendars: AirTable, BaseCamp (add products)
Experienced Graphic Designer and User Experience Designer, (add word) in applying principals of user design testing.
Versatile copywriter and detail-oriented editor with the ability to write in a variety of voices, depending on the speaker and audience.
(Add something about accessiblity/diversity)
Note: This portfolio is Instagram-heavy because pictures tell a great story, but I am also proficient in the entire Meta suite, Bluesky, TikTok, YouTube and, if required... Twitter. (But I would rather not with that last one.)
